UTosia is gelegen in Vleuten, op 10 km. afstand van Utrecht. De werk-, woon- en presentatieplek bevindt zich op de grens tussen de Randstad en het Groene Hart. UTosia is het totaalkunstwerk van Engel Pluck. Na jaren opknappen en verbouwen is het huis, uit 1924, nu geheel tot kunstruimte getransformeerd.


UTosia beschikt over het Tuinatelier om kunstenaars te ontvangen en presentaties te realiseren. In het huis zijn het atelier van Engel Pluck en de Engel Academy gevestigd.

UTosia

UTosia is located in Vleuten, at 10 km. distance from Utrecht. The work, living and presentation space is located on the border between the Randstad and the "Groene Hart"(rural area) of the Netherlands.  UTosia is owned by Engel Pluck. After years of renovation, the house, dating from 1924, has now been completely transformed into an art space.

The garden studio, UTosia Tuinatelier, is available to receive artists for a working period and as a space for presentations. Engel Pluck's art studio and the Engel Academy are located in the UTosia house next to the studio.


Programma Tuinatelier
UTosia Tuinatelier heeft een Artist in Residence programma met werkperiodes van minimaal één week. Werkperiodes zijn beschikbaar via een open call of op uitnodiging. Uitgangspunt is dat de kunstenaar een volledig vrije omgeving nodig heeft om te komen tot werken, als inspiratie, voor onderzoek en/of interactie. Het verder ontwikkelen van kunstenaarschap en het werkproces staan voorop. Begeleiding door Engel Pluck, ervaren multidisciplinair kunstenaar en kunstdocent, is inclusief. De periode wordt afgesloten met het delen van onderzoekservaringen.

Program Tuinatelier, garden studio

UTosia Tuinatelier, the garden studio, has an Artist in Residence program with working periods of one week minimum. Longer periods in consultation. Working periods are granted through open call or by invitation. The starting point is that the artist needs a completely free environment to work, as inspiration, for research and/or interaction. The further development of the artistic position and the work process are key. Mentoring by Engel Pluck, an experienced multidisciplinary artist and art teacher, is included. At the end of period, research and process experiences are shared.

Tuinatelier praktisch Practical considerations
  • Vanaf één week. Minimal duration is one week.
  • De beschikking over de zelfstandig toegankelijke ruimte dat naast/achter UTosia ligt. Use of the independently accessible space that is located next to/behind UTosia.
  • De oppervlakte van het Tuinatelier is ong. 20 m2 en de studio beschikt over ruim daglicht. Desgewenst kan de kleine binnenplaats worden gebruikt. The surface of the studio is approx. 20 m2 and the studio has ample daylight. If desired, the small courtyard can be used.
  • UTosia is zeer goed bereikbaar met trein (station op 15 min. loopafstand) en bus. Op het terrein van UTosia is een gratis parkeermogelijkheid. UTosia is very well accessible by train (station 15 minutes walking distance) and bus. A parking spot is available on the UTosia site (free).
  • Overnachting in het aangrenzende huis met gebruik van keuken en douche is mogelijk. Accommodation in the adjoining house with use of kitchen and shower is possible.

Aanvraag art residency UTosia
Aanvragen voor een art residency kunnen worden gedaan door:
  •  (Performance) kunstenaars, experimenteel, filosofisch en procesgericht. 
  •  Onderzoekers met een filosofische, politiek/kritische, schrijvende/taaltechnische  achtergrond die artistieke uiting en - zeggingskracht willen onderzoeken.


Richtlijnen aanvraag
Documentatie van werk vergezeld van foto’s met recent (afstudeer)werk en, indien beschikbaar, publicaties. Website en Instagram account. Studenten filosofie, politiek/kritische studie of schrijvers een (samenvatting van) scriptie en eventuele publicatie(s).
  • Beknopt CV.
  • Residency projectplan. Inclusief gewenste startdatum en duur van de werkperiode.
  • Sparringsbehoefte werkproces.
  • Wijze van delen van de onderzoeksuitkomsten.

De kosten van het Tuinatelier inclusief coaching bedragen 150 euro per week. 
Vergoeding voor eventuele overnachting (per week) in overleg. Kosten van reis en maaltijd zijn voor eigen rekening. Gezamenlijk koken is een optie.

Aplication art residency UTosia
Applications for an art residency at UTosia can be done by:

  • (Performance) artists, experimental, philosophical, process focus.
  • Researches with a philosophical, political/critical, writing/language background who wish to (further) explore artisic expression. 

 

To apply for a residency please submit: 

  • Work documentation,including photos of recent (graduation) work and if available, publications. Website and Instagram account. Students of philosophy or political/critical study a (summary of) thesis and if available, publication(s). 
  • Concise CV. 
  • Residency project plan. Including date and length of working period.
  • Coaching need during working process.
  • Plan for sharing the research results.

 

Costs of use of studio incl. coaching are 150 euros per week. Contribution for overnight stay (per week) in consultation.Travel and meal costs are for own account. Cooking together is an option.
